About the role

Glydways is building autonomous transit systems to revolutionize public transportation. This role focuses on the build infrastructure that powers the entire software engineering organization, owning the Bazel monorepo that all engineers use to build, test, and ship software across C++, Python, and Go.

What you would do

* Roll out remote build execution and optimize remote cache hit rates across CI and developer machines * Profile and reduce build and test times in the monorepo while maintaining hermetic and reproducible builds * Upgrade and maintain Bazel, rulesets, and external dependencies (Bzlmod) * Support C++ toolchains and cross-compilation for embedded targets * Design and implement monitoring dashboards and alerts for build health, flaky tests, and CI performance * Collaborate with software engineering teams to identify and implement CI/CD improvements using AWS and Buildkite

What they are looking for

* Hands-on experience maintaining Bazel or comparable build systems (Buck, Pants) in a multi-language monorepo, including writing rules, configuring toolchains, and debugging build correctness * Strong knowledge of build systems and development tools such as git, linting, GitHub, code review, testing frameworks, and deployment frameworks * Working knowledge of C++ build toolchains including compilers, linkers, sysroots, and cross-compilation * Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices and principles * Experience developing tools and services in Python or Go * Experience with Linux operating systems in both day-to-day development and operational environments

* Experience with remote caching and remote execution systems such as BuildBuddy, EngFlow, Buildbarn, or NativeLink * Direct experience with Buildkite * Knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms; Terraform experience is a plus * Familiarity with front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern frameworks) for building internal tools and dashboards * Knowledge of on-call support processes, incident management, and monitoring tooling
