About the role

The Core Infrastructure team provides a containerised cloud environment based on EKS that is the foundation of Tide’s Platform Engineering provision to product engineering teams.

The team mission is to provide product engineers a platform so they can build great products for our members without directly provisioning cloud infrastructure.

Tide is hiring for a proven Engineering Manager to lead the team.

As the successful candidate you will

- Lead: Hire, coach, and set clear goals for a team of engineers.

- Plan: Develop a roadmap for architecture, upgrades, autoscaling, and capacity for our infrastructure, databases, and Kubernetes clusters.

- Protect: Make sure our platforms meet their targets for availability and security.

- Empower: Reduce the time that product engineers need to deploy and run services on the platform.

- Control cost: Help product engineering teams make cost-efficient choices for services that run on our platform.

- Collaborate: Share team context and build cross-team relationships.

- Balance priorities: Weigh technical decisions against team and company goals.

- Measure: Track team productivity with metrics such as DORA and SPACE, and drive measurable improvement.

What they are looking for

You are an engineering leader who stays technically hands-on. You know that the biggest challenges need effective delegation and team empowerment.

- 10+ years of experience in distributed computing

- 3+ years in engineering leadership roles

- A degree in Computer Science or a related field

- Detailed knowledge of AWS, GCP, or both, in a regulated environment that requires security guardrails

- Experience running Kubernetes in production with GitOps (ArgoCD preferred)

- An understanding of how to use AI tools such as Claude, and how to help your engineers and customers use them efficiently

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Read from job-boards.greenhouse.io, last seen 4d ago.

- Experience managing stakeholders across teams and functions

You will stand out if you have:

- Platform engineering experience that abstracts Kubernetes complexity into a stable internal product

- Experience creating and maintaining Kubernetes operators

OUR TECH STACK

- Cloud: 100% containerised on AWS EKS

- Infrastructure as code: Terraform and Terragrunt manage all platform infrastructure

- Deployments: ArgoCD with a GitOps approach

- Custom infrastructure: Helm and Crossplane manage the databases, S3 buckets, and other resources that each container needs

- Source control and CI/CD: GitHub and GitHub Actions

- Observability: Coralogix

- Product backend: Java, Python, and Go

- Client apps: Angular and Flutter
