PostgreSQL Database Administrator

An urgent contract opportunity has arisen for an SC Cleared PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join a high-profile public sector project. This role is fully remote and falls inside IR35.

The Role:

You will be responsible for managing, tuning, and scaling mission-critical database infrastructure hosted in secure cloud environments. Working closely with engineering and DevOps teams, you will ensure optimal performance, high availability, and strict adherence to government security standards.

* Design, configure, and manage PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon RDS instances.

* Drive database performance tuning, slow query troubleshooting, and proactive monitoring.

* Execute schema updates, migrations, and engine upgrades safely within cloud ecosystems.

* Support disaster recovery, backup protocols, and high-availability setups.

* Collaborate with software and infrastructure teams on database design best practices.

* Active SC Clearance (Mandatory).

* Extensive commercial experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.

* Proven cloud experience with AWS, specifically Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible) and Amazon RDS.

* Strong background in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting query bottlenecks.

* Experience within public sector or secure environments is highly advantageous.
