Forward-Deployed Engineer | Chicago, IL

Build impactful software solutions in a hybrid, local-to-client contract role supporting complex data and technology initiatives. This opportunity offers a $50 – $70 hr range based on experience, an 18-month assignment, and the chance to work across data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and custom applications.

Pay & Benefits

• Build, maintain, and extend data pipelines and integrations across software platforms. • Scope, create, and implement technical use cases, workflows, and applications. • Partner with technical teams and end users to integrate data into stable, extensible pipelines. • Develop custom applications and solutions that address critical technical and operational needs. • Support demonstrations, pilots, bootcamps, internal tooling, and enablement initiatives. • Lead or support training efforts and promote adoption of the workflows and applications you build.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or relevant professional experience. • Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript. • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams. • Comfort working in a rapidly changing environment. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Experience with Postgres, Cassandra, Hadoop, or Spark. • Experience with Java, Groovy, TypeScript, React, Leaflet, d3, or Python. • Experience with AWS EC2 and S3. • Experience building data pipelines, integrations, workflows, or custom applications. • Familiarity with software platforms and applications used to support complex data initiatives.
