About the role
As a Database Developer, you play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining database solutions that support business operations. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, performance, and security across various database systems. Database Developers are in high demand across industries due to the increasing reliance on data-driven decision making.
At Peregrine Advisors, you will own the queries, stored procedures, views, and logical data models for your assigned part of a federal agency's enterprise data platform. But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.
What you would do
Your first project will likely have you taking responsibility for the accuracy and performance of your assigned components. Depending on the assignment, you may:
* Build Structured Query Language (SQL) queries, stored procedures, and views in Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible). * Work across Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). * Design logical data models and database schemas for your assigned components. * Tune queries and build S3 data loads and connectivity under governed access.
You deliver database components accurate and fast enough that analysts and systems trust them. You automate the loads and checks that used to be run by hand, and you build models that keep working as the platform grows.
What they are looking for
* 4+ years of database development experience * Bachelor's degree * Working expertise with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), including schema design, stored procedures and functions, and indexing * Experience with Amazon DynamoDB, including data modeling and working with Global and Local Secondary Indexes (GSIs and LSIs) * Structured Query Language (SQL) across complex queries, views, stored procedures, and functions, plus relational design, normalization, and data modeling * Query and performance tuning across slow queries, indexing, and execution plans * Extract, transform, and load (ETL) and extract, load, and transform (ELT) development and data integration across Amazon Web Services (AWS) data services, including Aurora, DynamoDB, and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) * Working within data security controls, including encryption, access management, and auditing * Data loading from S3 into the platform stores, plus Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) * Logical data modeling and database-design decisions for assigned components within an established platform architecture * Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
