Senior Backend Developer

The application Digital construction support "Digitale Baubegleitung" is becoming the central platform for digitization of construction sites for fiber-rollout in Germany. Among other things, it enables the collection of data on newly constructed cable routes using compatible measurement systems, including the creation of photos and 3D models of the trenches. In the long term, the web application for visualizing collected data and ensuring quality control forms the basis for the automation of documentation, billing, and AI-supported analysis. This results in added value in the form of transparent visibility of the construction progress of individual projects, as well as detailed documentation of construction quality through daily scans of open trenches.

We are actively seeking a skilled Backend Developer with strong experience in Node.js with Docker and SQL knowledge to support the application of Digital Construction (Digitale Baubegleitung) which will become the central platform for digitization of construction sites for fiber-rollout in Germany.

* Design and implement backend services and APIs * Develop new features together with Product Owner and Architects * Optimize performance, scalability and security * Write unit and integration tests * Review merge requests and ensure coding standards * Troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis * Mentor junior and medior developers * Document technical solutions * Collaborate closely with DevOps regarding deployments and releases * Participation in Agile ceremonies and other, application-related discussions

What are we looking for: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Interaction Design, or related field. * 5+ years in backend development roles, ideally in enterprise-grade web applications. * Expert knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js * Deep understanding of REST APIs and microservices * Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL data modelling and SQL optimization * Experience with Git, GitLab and CI workflows * Experience in testing with Jest * Deep knowledge of secure software development principles * Hands-on experience with API design and backend architecture * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Team player attitude with proactive communication * Constructive problem solving and result oriented mindset * Agile mindset (Scrum / SAFe) and collaboration in agile ceremonies * High quality awareness in all stages of development * Mentoring mindset in supporting colleagues * Fluent English * Passion for continuous learning and adoption of new technologies * Experience with Docker and containerized development is preferred * Basic DevOps knowledge for deployments and release processes is welcomed * OpenShift / Kubernetes experience and knowledge of AWS fundamentals also preferred * Geospatial technologies are a plus
