About Commonwealth Fusion Systems: Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy. Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers, suppliers, and many others to build the energy industry of the future. We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised $4 billion of capital, making us the largest and leading fusion company in the world. Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team. If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.
Join the power movement as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, innovative, and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality across the production line. You will be the magnet owner, holding overall accountability for this shift. This role involves close collaboration with design engineers, production staff, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.
What you would do
- Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for production operations across the line, including fabrication, welding, inspection, instrumentation, and cryogenic testing
- Troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues, and decide when to hold or stop work to protect product and people
- Verify and buy off work station setups against the process plan, including hardware configuration, tooling, and torque sequences
- Disposition nonconformances and lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations
- Own work instruction and process plan accuracy in the manufacturing execution system (MES): redline steps, resolve blocked operations, and capture lessons from the floor so knowledge lives in controlled documents
- Coordinate with NDT, welders, technicians, controls, equipment, analysis, and quality teams to resolve issues quickly and safely
- Support changes in product configurations, including updated process plans, tooling, and work instructions
