* Simplify existing transformations so downstream teams never rebuild the same logic.

* Build and monitor pipelines (Python + GCP) and keep them healthy.

* Document everything - schemas, lineage, and data contracts.

* Guard the platform: manage IAM roles, data-access boundaries, cost monitoring, performance tuning, and data validity checks.

* 3+ years of professional analytics engineering experience (or similar), with a track record of turning messy operational data into governed analytics layers.

* Advanced SQL skills, routinely writing complex CTEs, window functions, and query optimisation.

* Strong Python skills for ETL and orchestration, alongside hands-on experience with GCP, BigQuery, Git, and CI/CD.

* Methodically analyse complex, tangled systems and design clear, structured plans for improvement.

* Take proactive ownership of the platform’s health, ensuring robust monitoring, governance, and reliability.

* Balance long-term, clean system design with the immediate need to deliver business value.

* Collaborate confidently across teams to establish data contracts and align upstream source teams, downstream consumers, data scientists, and analysts.
